Personal Statement
I am an egyptian high school senior graduating in 2014 and I would like to introduce myself. I am a member of the Gezira Club Tennis Team (where I practice on weekdays) and of the Egyptian National Team, providing us weekend practices. My goal in the past 3 years was to be able to complete my studies in the United States with a tennis scholarship, for the fall of 2014. After all the time and hard work I've put in tennis, I think this was the best way to pursue my career and at the same time get the best education. Tennis, which is my passion, has made me go through a lot and taught me many things that regular people would not know nor experience. It has built a stronger personality in me and has taught me work ethics, team work, sportsmanship, independence, responsibility, and many other things.
For me to fulfill my dream, I've been working very hard to evolve my game, in order to become "eligible" for a good team. My coach Karim Zaher played for the University of Alabama and has recommended me to follow the same steps as his.Tamer El Sawy as well, who has played for LSU has also coached me for 3 consecutive summers in Tampa and has helped me a lot develop my game. During my stay last summer, I played 2 USTA locals which I have won and reached quarters in a Super Series tournament.
I am currently ranked number 2 U18 and number 10 ladies locally in Egypt.
By playing only two ITF tournaments tournaments this year, my ranking is 911. I reached the quarters of a grade 5 and semi finals of a grade 4.
Academically, I have a GPA of 3.7 with a number 1 class rank. I am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and have received many honor certificates by my school here in Egypt. I have taken the SAT with a combined score of 1670 and the TOEFL exam in which I scored 91.
I guarantee hard work and dedication to any team that recruits me and I'll do my best to be a great addition.
