Hello! My name is Georgia Nissen. I started played tennis at summer camps when I was younger but didn't start taking the sport seriously until around 8th grade. I grew to love the sport the more I played and now I even work at a country club coaching younger students who wish to play tennis as well. I think what sets me apart from most people is my determination. After starting my freshman year playing high school tennis I got put into the #1 spot on our varsity team. Playing the top people from all other schools in our conference was quite nerve racking but I didn't let that stop me. I started playing in tournaments after that season and continuing in lessons. Not only have I grown in tennis over these past couple years but I have grown academically as well. Taking apart in our dual credit classes through our local community college, honors classes as well as AP courses, all while maintaining a 4.0. I'm also involved in our schools National Honors Society. One thing that I believe should be mentioned is while participating in my junior year state qualifying tournament, I happened to take a fall backwards and land on my left wrist. I had to medically forfeit and ended up with a broken bone right beneath my wrist. This was very disappointing because I had a high chance of qualifying. However, I'm not letting it stop me. I'm using the time in a cast to work on my backhand slice and continue improving on my forehand. Although it is disappointing I am still playing as much tennis as I can because I just love to play this sport.
