I have been playing tennis for 12 years. My mom introduced me to tennis when I was about 5 years old and I have loved playing ever since then. Because I grew up going to practice, doing workouts, and playing in the tournament atmosphere I have learned a lot about myself. I believe that I am a passionate, committed and competitive person on and off the court. I feel that the discipline I have learned through tennis carries over to my academics as well. As a rising senior, my academic goal by the end of high school is to maintain a strong GPA and improve my ACT score. Although I am unsure what I want to major in, I am open to looking at most colleges with a strong academic program. I am also looking for a school that gives me opportunities to meet new people, branch out, and of course, a women’s tennis team.
Throughout my tennis career I have had to overcome many obstacles such as injuries and setbacks, just as any athlete does. I especially struggled with my forehand after changing it at the end of my eighth grade year, but that did not stop me from working to the best of my ability. I have always had a passion for tennis that I would love to take with me to college. I am looking for a college that I will feel comfortable in and a tennis program where I can be a dedicated and contributing member.
