I can still remember the first time I picked up a racket, and how tennis took my life completely by surprise. Everyday I remember being so frustrated with not getting better, and how I strived everyday at practice to try and do my best. I remember looking up thousands of tennis videos to see how to improve. I remember the day I finally asked my mom for tennis lessons and how everything changed. How I finally started to improve in ways I never thought possible. Tennis has been a second home for me, as along with having improved athletically, I have also learned important lessons that I hold in my heart every single day. I have learned that like you run every ball down and never give up on a shot, you never give up in life on anything. In a tennis match when you lose, you lose with dignity. You give the opponent a firm handshake and walk off only thinking about how to improve. You support every doubles partner you have and give everything you have when you play any match.
If I get the chance to be apart of any college team, I will offer not only the skills that I have worked so hard for, but passion. I will try my hardest on every match and in every practice. And this passion also extends into my academic life. I plan on majoring in psychology, and eventually getting a Ph. D in psychology so as to become a clinical psychologist. I have high expectations for myself as an athlete and student, and I hope to bring my love of the sport, skills, and sportsmanship to any college team I am on.
