Hello, my name is Yasmine and I'm a 17 year-old senior at South Lakes High School, Reston, VA. I was born in Egypt and I played Tennis there at a professional academy and was ranked No. 7 in the country in 12 and under.
But around the age of 12, my parents felt that I need a better environment with better opportunities to reach my goals. So in the summer of 2010, my family and I moved to the United States. I then joined the USTA and I played a lot of tournaments in the past 4 years.
About my high school career, I have been playing #1 Singles from freshman year to present. During freshman year, I went undefeated, and in my sophomore and junior years, I got 2nd place in the Mountain Valley Conference tournament and reached the quarter-finals in Districts as well.
About colleges, I prefer going to a Division 1 or 2 university, since I really want to play at the highest level possible. And about academics, I am a high honor roll student with an average GPA of 3.9/4.0, and an SAT score of 1700. I am an active member of many clubs and organizations at school and I do community service every chance I get. I intend to study Architecture and Interior Design as a major, and I am also looking for good athletic scholarships that will support me throughout my college years.
I believe hard work and dedication lead to success, so that's what I am working on right now. I play at least 4 days a week with hitting partners and a group lesson in the community, and I do fitness training on my own at the gym. I currently do not have a private coach but I still try to improve my weaknesses through practice.
