Personal Statement

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Hello, my name is Callie Peet, and I will graduate in June 2014.  Thank you for viewing my profile! I have been playing varsity soccer and tennis for three years while maintaining a rigorous academic schedule, and my goal is to continue this balance of sports and academics in college.  Tennis in particular has been an excellent opportunity for growth as an athlete and leader; I started playing tennis my freshman year primarily because I liked the teacher who was coaching; he was my 8th grade Algebra teacher, and encouraged me to try it.  I loved it, and with my natural ability and a lot of hard work, I made it onto Varsity by the end of that season, going on to play #3 Singles as a sophomore and #1 Singles as a junior, making it to the 2-A District tournament; I anticipate being at #1 Singles again this year as a senior, and my goal is to make it to the State tournament.  I train faithfully during the off-season, travelling more than two hours to play in indoor tournaments, and taking lessons as well.   My success at these USTA tournaments resulted in a #34 (out of over 100) sectional ranking for Southeastern Washington State last year.I hold a 3.7 GPA, taking an array of honors and AP classes, as well as being a violinist in our school orchestra.  I recently earned the Port Angeles Education Foundation Academic Excellence Award, and also earned Academic Letters in 2011, 201, and 2013.  I was chosen as Guidance Student of the Month in September 2013, Theodore Roosevelt Student of the Month Award in January 2012, received the PAHS Business Department Career & Technical Education Award of Excellence in March 2011, and Academic Student of the Month in February 2011.I was involved in Camp Fire USA until last year, participating in various community volunteer activities, including work at the First Step Family Support Center, Olympic Medical Center Foundation events, and the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. I am thrilled to be pursuing an academically challenging college experience, where I can also continue to grow and improve as Tennis player in a team setting!   /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;}
