Hello! My name is Hastings Gray and I am a runner. I am very interested in running for a college. I am the captain of the girls' cross country captain at my school, and I am also one of the Track Distance captains. I have run cross country for five years now and have qualified for State whether with my team or individually every year. I have also ran track for three years and qualified for State in the 4x800 the first two years with my team. Whether getting up at 5:00 AM over the summers to beat the heat or staying at the gym late at night to finish up with cross training, I will get what needs to be done to be successful. I know how to balance my schedule for work, running, and school so that I can do my absolute best in all that I participate in. I am so in love with running and the challenges that come with the sport. I am the only female distance runner for our track program at my school so I am constantly training with the boys, by myself, or with runners from much larger schools. I hope to compete at the collegiate level and find a team that is just as dedicated as I am, while also being encouraged even with the bad runs.
As for academics, I am interested in going into Law, specifically Child Advocacy Law. I want to help children in dangerous situations and give them a sense of hope and a chance at a better future. This job will require extreme mental toughness and a positive attitude even in hard situations, and running has definitely helped me develop a strong and positive mental attitude even when I am struggling. I am relentless. I do not quit or give up when I am going through a tough situation, I will buckle down and push right on through it no matter what. This not only applies to running but to every situation in my life.
