Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Harper Matthews and I have been running cross country since I was in 7th grade. When I shared with my parents that I had chosen cross country, they were very surprised! I had never shown any interest in running at all. I reminded them that one of my favorite things to do at afternoon recess was watch the runners from the Junior High run by our campus. It was inspiring! Cross Country has not only challenged me physically, but mentally as well. I have learned important lessons about what it means to persevere, have determination, and be a part of a team. Over the years I have learned to develop a deep love for running and competing with a team.
