My name is Brylee Gogel, and I am currently a Junior at Bentonville West High School in Bentonville, Arkansas. I carry a 4.0 GPA and I will graduate in 2021.
I have a true passion for running and I am a member of Triple Threat Racing run team. I compete in both track and cross country. I love being active because I get to meet new people, race hard, see new places, and have fun! I have been running since 3rd grade and it is something that has really changed my life. I would be grateful for the opportunity to run at the collegiate level.
Every day I balance school, AP classes, and running for 2-3 hours daily. I am very good at time management because it is something I am comfortable with.
I had a full spinal fusion in June of 2017 for scoliosis which took me out of practices and competitions for one year while I healed and recovered. I feel my surgery does not set me back in any way from completing the goals I want to achieve. If anything it was a small bump in the road and does not affect my performance in racing. I am focused and continue to get stronger everyday.
My personal goals for this season are to run a sub 5:15 mile and sub 18:00 5k. I strive to push myself no matter what I am doing and not give up. One of my favorite quotes is, “you can’t put 80 percent into something and expect 100 percent in return.” – Dr. Chris Carr, Sports Psychologist.
