Hi there! My name is Maddie Geesen, and I will be a senior at Agoura High School this fall. I absolutely love running cross country and track. For me, running provides an outlet, where I can escape the stress from everything else in my life. I never ran before high school, so I faced some injuries during my freshman and sophomore years. Since then, I have put the time into improving upon my form and strengthening my entire body. I now believe that I have a strong foundation, on which I can continue to get stronger and faster for many, many more years. I give my all every day and never make excuses. As one of my coaches always tells us, “perfect practice makes perfect.” During difficult workouts or after rough days at school, my teammates and I rely on each other to power through and never give up. However, as dedicated as I am to running, academics will always come first. My favorite subjects are math and science, and I would like to pursue a major related to one of these in college. I am never afraid to challenge myself, whether it be on the track or in a classroom. I would be honored to continue my running career into college, ideally at a school that is academically very strong.
