In August of 2022, before my freshman year started, I wanted to join a fall sport. After going over the options I had, and while also keeping in mind that I absolutely sucked at any other sport involving a ball apart from soccer, I decided my only choice was to join the Cross Country team. The first practice I went to involved 800 meter repeats, and of course I was only able to do about 1 rep before almost passing out, as it was my first day of practice. The day after, I wanted to skip practice so bad, as I was really sore and tired, but I told myself that if I wanted it to hurt less, I needed to get used to it.
Even though my freshman Cross Country season had a lot of ups and downs, it made me develop an unconditional love for the sport in very little time, which is what taught me to stay consistent and always try my best, no matter what it is or how hard I think it is.
Apart from sports, I do really well in school and love learning new things. I have a 4.2 GPA, am involved in leadership, and I'm also in band as the second highest clarinet player and section leader. My goals after high school are to commit to a college where I can work on improving myself as a runner as well as academically, while pursuing my dream of becoming a toxicologist. When it comes to running with a new team, I think I'm very responsible, reliable, hard working, and will make friends everywhere I go. Apart from that, after moving to the US from Colombia in November of 2018 not being able to say a single word in English and later being a completely fluent English speaker in about 9 months, I also think I'm a very quick learner, and easy to teach.
