Motivated, focused, responsible, and dependable are areas of my strength. As a young girl, I was made fun of, laughed at, and embarrassed because I struggled academically. I was the student that sunk down in my seat, so the teacher would not call upon me. However, when it came to recess, I was the athletic student that everyone wanted on their team!
I found physical activity to be of comfort, especially running and horseback riding. Both activities were easy, peaceful, and gave me clarity and hope. As I became a stronger athlete in both activities, I also became a stronger student. With hard work and determination, I overcame my academic difficulties.
As a high school student, I have earned both an academic and athletic letter, all while staying in the top 20% of my class. The skills I gained through difficult times have given me the ability to put my best foot forward in everything I do. From practicing every day to eating healthy and making sure I have enough rest, my focus is always to ensure improvement in myself as a person, student and as an athlete.
Since my freshmen year, I have been on the varsity cross country and track team earning the MVP award in both sports. I volunteer my time to a national non-profit organization and I am committed to my personal values, my family, church, and school. As a person and an athlete, winning is very important, however, the desire not to lose is my strength!
