My main goal for my senior year is to break 60 seconds in the 400 meters individual event, which would be a personal record (PR) for me. Also, I would like to return for a fourth consecutive year to compete at the CIF prelims in the 4x400 meter relay. I continue working towards achieving these goals by working during the offseason preparing myself physically and mentally. These last three years of high school track I have improved steadily. I want to try to make my Senior season of high school track the best of my high school career. Since the start of my high school track career I have not only enjoyed competing with my team, but have learned how to work hard and take charge to achieve your goals. Track is something I take very seriously and put a lot of time and heart into. While working to obtain my own personal goals, I strive to lead and do my part for my team to obtain our goals when it comes to relays and gaining my points for my team at meets. I enjoy leading and motivating my team and coaches with practice, races, and cheering on fellow teammates. This attitude throughout my high school track career has led me to become the youngest captain of the team as a junior and a head captain as a senior. I try my best to demonstrate a positive, strong, faith-filled attitude as a leader and role model for my team. During my free time, I volunteer with the track youth camp that Rosary hosts. Also, I assist coaching youth basketball teams for Yorba Linda basketball league. Finally, I help put together the Roosevelt High School class of 1955 reunion which takes place once every summer. My drive and passion for the sport and my want to get better include the people in my life who believe in me, especially my parents, coaches, and teammates. I am fortunate enough to have a lot of people who encourage and support me. Also, a lot of my motivation comes from wanting to prove myself to those who underestimate me and/or characterize me as a certain type of runner. It has been extremely helpful to compete in Trinity league, one of the hardest leagues in the country. I have competed against many strong, talented athletes which pushes me to become a better person and athlete. I love running to prove to myself that I can accomplish anything as long as I work and train hard, while staying focused on my priorities and humble during and after my track career.
