Being a collegiate track athlete is something I have always aspired to be. The day I made the varsity track team as a freshman I knew God had something bigger in store for me when it came to track and field. My goal is to run track at a collegiate level and become the best student athlete that I can be. I hope to have an impact on my teammates and coaches, and help them become the best that they can be. While running track in college I plan to earn my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, and use that to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy to achieve my dream career as a physical therapist. I hope to one day work at a Veterans affair hospital or open my own practice that specifically serves veterans.
A few characteristics that stand out about me are my work ethic and passion for the sport. I work hard on the track and in the classroom. I have had a 4.0 GPA for all 4 semesters I have been in high school, while playing three sports; volleyball, basketball and track. I competed for and won the Top outstanding student in the Health Science and Medical Technologies field my freshman year. I love every minute of the hard work and discipline that goes into being a great student athlete.
A few things that set me apart from other student athletes is that I not only want to better myself but my teammates as well. I work my hardest so that they will want to work their hardest. I push myself to be better, so that they will push themselves to be better. I also know that being a great student athlete is not just about the physical but the mental. I have worked on becoming a more mentally tough athlete. Through the ups and downs I have experienced in sports, I have learned how to bounce back from mistakes and failures, and to use those to help me improve. I don't dwell on my errors, but learn from them and use them to make me a stronger person.
I know I will be a great asset to any team because I make everyone around me better. I have a team first mindset and always focus on encouraging and uplifting others. I am very coachable and love learning new things about my sport! God has called me to serve others, and I believe the best way that I can do that is to compete in track and field at the collegiate level.
