Rai Ahmed-Green '14 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches,

My name is Rai Ahmed-Green.  I run the 200m and 400m for Irvine High School in Irvine, CA and I have been on my Varsity team since my freshman year. This past year I also joined the Academy of Speed (AOS) track club based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  My fastest times during the 2014 outdoor season are 56.15 in the 400m and 24.87 in the 200m which are also personal records.  My major accomplishments this season are winning the Pacific Coast League Championship in both the 200 & 400m and winning the CIF Southern Section Division 3 Championship in the 400m. My times of 200m and 400m times are ranked 41st and 23rd respectively in the state of California according to the PrepCal Track California Top 100 Rankings as of 5/31/14. Although my high school season is over, I will still compete in various events during the summer to continue lowering my times. 

I am looking for a track program that I believe will help me reach my current goals of running 53.50 in the 400m and 23.40 in the 200m.  At this point, I still have not made a formal commitment to a school.  My parents and I are still evaluating scholarship opportunities so I am still encouraging coaches to contact me if they have roster spots and scholarships available. 

Academically, I currently I have a cumulative GPA of 3.90 out of 4.00 and scored 1930 out of 2400 on my last SAT taken on 5/3/14.  In college I plan to major in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing.  My career plans are to be a Writer and Editor of books.  I am looking for a school that has a great creative writing program and history of strong internship opportunities, graduates who have been published or worked for publishing companies. 

Outside of school and track my interests include reading lots of books, writing short stories and poetry, playing guitar, and singing. I also enjoy photography.  While track has been great for me I consider myself to be a well-rounded student-athlete who has a lot to offer any school on and off the track.
