Running has always been more than a sport to me, it is a way of life. I love to push my limits, especially the thrill of crossing the finish line. Though the lessons track and field has taught me are beyond the race. No matter how challenging the training or competitions are, I never give up. Track and field has shaped me into a stronger, more disciplined person, and it continues to help me overcome obstacles, not just on the field but in my life. Through track and field, I have learned how to set goals and stay focused. It has give me the confidence to step outside of my comfort zone and improve on communication skills with my coaches and teammates. Most importantly, track has strengthened my mindset, teaching me how to be more resilient, patient, and determined, these qualities will help me succeed both in athletics and in my future challenges and goals. I am eager to take my skills to the next level and compete at the highest level that I possibly can, but continue to grow as an athlete and an individual. Though, I aspire to become an obstetrician and Track and field has assisted me with developing more skills. Track and field taught me perseverance and resilience and the ability to overcome setbacks, which are qualities that will be important for me when I face challenges in medical school, including the nature of obstetrics. In track, precision and focus are very necessary, which is similar to an obstetrician. As an obstetrician I will need to collaborate with nurses, doctors and support staff to best provide for patients and I feel Track and Field is a way for me to prepare for exactly that. This sport faces intense pressure during competitions and in a medical setting I will need to perform under pressure, make quick decisions and stay calm. Therefore, track and field is helping me prepare to become an obstetrician not only physically, but mentally.
I believe that I am a good candidate for any college. The reason why I believe this is because I am dedicated both off the track and on the track. I try to maintain a high academic standing, while also balancing a challenging course load with my training. My consistent performance in competition, including my personal improvements, demonstrates my growth mindset and commitment to success. I am always striving to push past my limits, and I bring this drive in everything that I do, if it is in a classroom or practice. I am excited to contribute to any school who is excited to recruit me. I plan on continuing developing as an athlete and a person.
