I have been an athlete my entire life. In my junior year of school (2021), I added track, specifically pole vaulting, which I instantly loved the minute I put a pole in my hands. My background in ballet and eight years of competitive rock climbing heavily shaped who I am as a person in that I learned to appreciate working on fundamentals and working through discomfort and pushing past both mental and physical limits. Pole vaulting and climbing are both mentally taxing and full body sports so the two definitely compliment each other. I enjoy seeing how both strength and endurance training pay off in competition. I have always been competitive in sports and crave the extra "try hard" that surfaces during meets/competitions. The lessons in perseverance I have learned from vaulting and climbing have been invaluable in school academics and the rigorous AP and Honors courses I study each year. I thrive in the demanding lifestyle I have as a scholar/athlete and want to continue in college as I cannot imagine not going to practice before or after class.
