If I had to choose a theme to describe my athletic journey so far, it would have to be: how close to the stars can I get? My first sport, at 4 years old, was gymnastics, which instilled in me the skills and dedication to become a better athlete. From there, at 9 years old, I learned aerial arts, which built on those skills and added even more core strength. But it wasn’t until I was 13 that I found the sport that would take me to the greatest heights– Pole Vault.
I took my first lesson, and there was no going back. By the end of my Freshman year, I had broken the Newbury Park High School Freshman girls record by 6 inches, clearing a 10 foot bar at the Marmonte League Varsity Finals. As a Freshman, it was very exciting to receive my Varsity Letter as well as the Most Improved Pole Vaulter award and the Principal's Scholar Athlete Award. I also maintained a 4.4 GPA.
My plan for my Sophomore year is to continue vaulting while finding other events I can be successful at. I am very interested in long jump, as well as sprints and possibly high jump. In my free time, I love to work out and read. My overall goal is to be able to jump for a college that fits me both athletically and academically. I plan to keep aiming for the stars in all that I do.
