I have been participating in track since fourth grade where I competed in 1500 M, high jump, long jump, and 4 X 100 relay. More recently, I've competed in hurdles as well as 4 X 400 relay and have started training on pole vault. I consider myself a well-rounded athlete being able to participate and excel in both track and field events.
As a younger athlete, I was put into a leadership position and tasked to teach the younger field athletes the high jump. During this time, I learned how influential a coach can be and utilized that to help the younger athletes gain the proper knowledge to compete and excel in the high jump. I also learned how prioritize my time as a mentor and an athlete.
Growing up, my parents taught me hard work and dedication. I've been successful at being a student, athlete, and an employee at a local pizza parlor. Track is an important aspect of my life as competing shows me I can achieve goals I never thought possible and pushes me to new limits. I aspire to continue with my track career through college to challenge myself even more and improve my skills as I continue my education in pursuit of becoming a nurse.
