Sarah Ajayi '23 Recruiting Profile

I started from a young age playing soccer but I soon discovered that I wasn’t very good at it, and the only aspect that made me appealing to coaches was my speed. This led to my parents signing me up for a track team which I really only wanted to join because my friends were doing it. So i never really realized it when I fell in love with the sport. The communit, the atmosphere, the adrenaline were all aspects of the sport that I found myself drawn to, and when I started hurdling freshman year, I knew I’d found my “thing”.  I started off as awkward and crazy as anyone might expect but the effort of learning something new and working to perfect it was so fulfilling to me.  I love how hurdling always pushes  me to do better in how I can always improve my technique or some aspect of my race. it allowed me to focus all of my internal drive and determination into one place and with the help of hard work I see rewards for my focus through PR’s. My goal is to continue my journey into college  and to keep putting in any work necessary to improve.
