I’ve always been very motivated and hardworking, putting my best effort into everything I do. Although I was first introduced to track in middle school, I took a break to focus on soccer and my studies. I rediscovered track during my junior year, and I quickly came to love it. Playing soccer had kept me in shape almost my entire life, and competing in track and field gave me an outlet for my speed. Track also gave me a way to formally measure myself against the most talented athletes of San Diego and beyond. Although I was accustomed to being the fastest person on the soccer field, I found that I was also one of the fastest in my school, setting two school records and receiving the Varsity MVP award in my first season.
Track allowed me to grow as a person and develop self confidence. Over the course of the year I took five AP classes while going to either soccer or track practice five times a week, giving me good time management skills. I am passionate about my studies, especially math and science. I want to be a plant biologist because I love plants, so I am looking for a strong science program at an academically challenging school. I look forward to training hard over the next year to build upon my accomplishments, improve my times, and find a college that will allow me to continue to develop both academically and as a person.
