My name is Michaela Martin and I am a junior at Scripps Ranch High School. Running is my favorite thing to do and it is a huge part of my life. I want to continue to run and compete for as long as possible and explore my maximum potential in this sport. I started running my freshman year of High School with little knowledge about running. However, once I decided that running was my passion, during my sophomore year of high school, I started taking it seriously. Last track season I managed to cut one minute and twenty-two seconds off my 3200m time and cut thirty-two seconds off my 1600m time. I continue to make these huge improvement jumps every race even with a very low weekly mileage. Starting this cross country season with a thirty-two second improvement to obtain a PR of 19:10 in the 5k, I am confident that I will reach my goal of 18:30 by the end of this season. In addition to achieving all these milestones, I manage to maintain my unweighted 4.0 GPA and prepare for the SAT. I hope that I can find a college that challenges me physically and academically and that will push me to be successful in my future career as well as the future I hope to have in running.
Please check out my current stats on the Athletic.net link as my PRs are changing weekly. Some recent accomplishments include placing third at Mt. Sac with a time of 19:01 and winning the division 2 junior race at Dana Hills. In addition to this, I just got a new 2 mile PR of 11:12 at the UC Hoka Postals and placed fourth overall in a highly competitive elite race.
