Cortney Wood '11 Recruiting Profile

To whom it may concern, My name is Cortney Wood and I am a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School-5 foot 7 inches and 135 lbs. I began running track my freshman year in addition to playing field hockey and soccer. I made the district ODP team for club soccer and was selected 1st team all-league for Junior Varsity field hockey. Although I was passionate for all three of my sports, it was sophomore year that I came to realize my greatest passion was running track. I have realized that it is something I would like to pursue beyond my high school years. As a senior, I have decided to bring an end to soccer and field hockey, thus focusing exclusively on my track events. It is my dream to run track in college, not only for the purpose of competing, but to challenge myself to become a more diligent, well-rounded athlete and individual. Growing up in California, I find most interest outdoors within the western region states-CA, OR, AZ, TX. On the other hand, I can easily see myself stepping out of my comfort zone and introducing myself to a new environment. With that said, I also hold a steady interest for states along the eastern region-NC, SC, FL, MA, PA, VA. At the moment my most prominent major interests lie within Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, but are not limited to the two. My most realistic athletic goal is to significantly drop the times of my events, thus requiring self-discipline and determination.
