I envision college to be the time I find myself. On this journey, my aspirations are to compete to my fullest ability and find a career that interests me. I want to make an impact, but not the typical doctor, engineer, or psychologist that everyone else wants to be. I want to become the best version of myself and have a purpose. Whatever my career might be, I want to leave a bigger mark. Though I’m still figuring out my future, Running has become my passion; however, the past has shaped me into the athlete I have evolved into. Growing up, I found my inner peace in the water. I was a swimmer, before I could walk. Starting at the age of 6, I competed competitively and raced at meets like J.O’s and SWAGR. I swam the last three years of highschool, but my junior year was different. I decided to commit to swim and track in the same season. I did both sports because I simply love it! From 1:50-3:30 P.M., I would run and train with the track girls. Then at 3:45-5:45 P.M, I would join my bestfriends in the pool. I did this everyday, for three months. I was exhausted halfway through the season, but towards the end, all my work paid off. I ended up finaling and PRing at CIF in both my events, 100 back and 200 IM. Also, a week later at Track CIF, I dropped 12 seconds from my previous mile time, giving me a time of 5:23. Because of my past in the water, my endurance is strong and it helped shape me into the runner I am. Last year was also my first year running. I want to compete at the collegiate level to see what my full potential truly is.
