Transitioning should come naturally to me as I have spent my life moving every few years. Growing up in a military family, I’ve had the opportunity to live and travel all around the world. I feel this experience has prepared me for my next transition into higher education. Living in places as far away as Japan, the constant that made each move easier for me was participation in sports. It made it easy to make new friends; as teammates, we instantly had something in common. From the early age of four, my first love was soccer. I played on both school teams and in clubs, spending nearly every day playing or training. Once I reached middle school I decided to add both track and cross country to my schedule. Thinking that the running would make me a better soccer player. I didn’t realize it in the beginning but my priorities were about to change. The turning point came while running cross country for my high school team. Making the varsity team as a Freshmen I felt honored but also accountable to perform well for the team. While on the team we qualified four consecutive years for the 4A Florida Cross Country State Championships. Running is now my passion and I hope to continue it while in college.
Sports and athletic training have become of great interest to me and I plan to pursue a degree in exercise science or similar area of study. I will be graduating from High School in 2018 so I am now actively considering which schools best fit both my academic desires and athletic ability. Additionally, I feel I can contribute to a team’s success and I am willing to work hard for an opportunity to help a team reach its goals. I look forward to what the future holds.
