I was raised in a military family; and my parents instilled in me hard work and dedication. I began sports when I was around 8 years old. I played indoor soccer while living in Alaska; that was when my parents realized I was athletic. When we lived in New Jersey my father signed me up for a running group on base, that was when he discovered I could run very well. I joined a youth center club when we got to Georgia; this was my first time actually competing in track meets. I enjoyed the team and the running. I was 10 years old when I decided Track & Field was the only sport I wanted to do.
My parents talked to me about trying basketball since I had a nice jump shot, but my heart was with track. During training (box jumps) we discovered I had a natural spring in my jump, and I extended my events to long jumping. I have improved over the years by continually setting goals for myself. I hope to have many more years of track and field competition. My goal is to be apart of a college program that will meet my academic as well as my athletics needs so I can continue to improve and learn skills that I will be able to use throughout my career.
