I have run track competitively since I was seven years old, competing in the Junior Olympics twice and winning the GRPA State Championship for running long jump when I was nine. When puberty hit, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and started experiencing injuries. It took me a few years, a lot of physical therapy and many visits to doctors to discover what it takes for me to be healthy. I worked hard to return to the track and be competitive. When I was finally ready to hit the track in high school and show the world what I could do, I was hit in the head by a lacrosse ball (in a classroom) and suffered a concussion. I was not able to work out, run track or do normal things like read or watch television (as I was on brain rest).
I am now 100% back to normal, and back to competing in track and field. There is still room for improvement. I work out regularly to make that happen. I’ve had my share of challenges, but I don’t give up and I keep working toward my goals. My goals are to attend college, run track (because I love it) and eventually become a physical therapist. I believe I have the talent and the heart to run at the collegiate level and will bring to the team a strong work ethic, can do attitude, and constant drive to improve.
