My name is Alex Gustavel; I'm entering my senior year at Boise High School in Boise, Idaho. My goal is to be at the top of my game and the most competitive athlete I can be. With my main focus being on the high jump, it allows me to develop in the sport not only physically but also mentally. I have also grown to appreciate the pressure involved in the sport. Although I play volleyball and basketball, I have always loved high jump and track since I started in 7th grade. Since then, training has led to my current PR of 5'6" and winning state. I also started the long jump for the first time this year and finished 6th in state with a PR of 16'8. I love the high jump because it allows me to compete while studying technique, which has built an immense amount of character. Track has shaped me into who I am today by building mental toughness through satisfying wins and tough losses. I want to continue the high jump in college because it will allow me to further my education and continue something I love as I compete at the next high level.
