Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Reilly Smith. I am currently in the 12th grade at Marist High School, which is a Premier Catholic College Prep High School located in Chicago, Illinois. While at Marist, I have participated in many different athletic teams, including Volleyball, Lacrosse, Cross Country, and Track. I have been named Captain of my 2022 Varsity Cross Country Team and just named All-Conference for the 2022 ESCC. in addition, we took 1st place Regional Team Champions for the 2nd year in a row, placed 7th in Sectionals and also qualified for the IHSA 2A State Championships for the 2nd year in a row!!!
This past summer, I participated in the Soldier Field 10-miler, and finished with a time of 1:08; and a week later, the Bank of America Half Marathon, and finished with a time of 1:32-finishing 1st in my age group in BOTH races!!!
I also attended a running camp hosted by Johns Hopkins University on July 18-20, and went to Harlan, KY, where I spent a week with my youth ministry group building houses for the less fortunate.
In addition to playing sports at Marist, I also play Club Volleyball for 1st Alliance Volleyball Club, on the Dean's List, and am employed at Pappys Restaurant, located in Evergreen Park IL.
As you can see, I love participating in all sorts of sports! In addition, I am also a really hard worker in school and put a lot of effort into maintaining exceptional grades. I think I would be an excellent candidate for your school because I am passionate about being the best I can be at everything I do. Most importantly, I am a fantastic teammate and am incredibly coachable.
My future goal is to become a nurse so I can help people in need. Sadly, my godmother had a horrible accident when I was only (3) which rendered her a quadriplegic. So, I have spent nearly my entire life helping my mom take care of her and in doing so, I have a grave understanding of how precious life is and the importance of hard work, and the value of helping others.
