I would love to run at the collegiate level because it is a more focused and tailored environment that focuses on improvement. Over the years, I have learned a lot about putting in hard work for myself and my teammates, as every season, we have had a new coach. Altogether, I have had 9 different distance coaches throughout high school. This has caused a lot of adversity for my team, and it has been really important to stay a leader and stay positive throughout all of these changes. Last cross country season, I received the "Most Impactful" award because I constantly created a positive environment for my teammates and was a leader to all of them. Currently, I am the team captain, as many see me as a leader on the team and one who makes everyone feel included. I think the most important part of running on a team is the bonds you create with your teammates. When I show up to practice, I want to create a fun environment that is conducive to working hard and improving rather than a toxic environment. Some of my closest friends have been found through running, and I think everyone deserves that chance to find their people. I think it would be really great to meet some lifelong friends through having collegiate teammates and that it is a good start to come in as a freshman in college already knowing some people. On every team that I am on, I want to have a lasting impact. This doesn't have to mean that I am the fastest on the team, breaking records; I just want to be there for my teammates and work hard to try and help everybody improve as much as possible. I also consider myself to be a student of the sport as I love to research nutrition and ways to optimize my recovery. On top of performing well and being there for my teammates, staying on top of academics has always been a priority for me. I am in many college-level classes and honors classes. I am currently ranked 4th in my class of 377, and I think that creating good studying and academic habits now will be crucial when learning to balance sports and academics in college. Working hard is crucial to getting what I want out of life, so putting as much effort into academics and sports as possible is very important to me. I don't think it's fair to my teammates to only give half effort when the rest of them are working hard to achieve a goal, so my goal is to always work as hard as I possibly can for them so that we can succeed as a team.
