Hello, my name is Mikayla. I have participated in track since I was in the 4th grade. I learned at a young age that you have to work hard for the things you want to achieve. When I was in the 6th grade, I wanted to break my school's record for the 200 m dash and through hard work I was able to make that happen. I had a similar goal when I broke the middle school record for the 200 m hurdles in 7th grade as well.
Although, I am willing to work hard for my individual goals, I am also willing to work hard for my team. During cross country this past year, we knew that the only way we would be able to make it back to state was to work hard together and we did that all season long working as a team. Picking it up places if someone had a bad run or a bad meet but in the end just making sure we were getting across that finish together. And we did it! We made it back to state!
I enjoy being part of a team and the feeling that comes with having a separate "sport family" and am looking forward to potentially enjoying the same experiences in college.
