FEver since I could remember I have been involved in sports. The sacrifice, work ethic, and commitment that the activity entails has taught me more than I could've thought. The lessons learned through the variety of sports I've been able to participate in have been incorporated into all aspects of life and have shaped me into the person I am. I expect a lot from myself, and in school I hold myself to a high standard, which can be demanding at times but always worth it. The heavy load of 3 sports stacked on top of school has strengthened my time management skills and allowed me to prioritize more efficiently. There are not a lot of experiences that can teach a person all of these lessons besides sports, more specifically running.
Looking back on my past 2 seasons of track, nothing can quite beat the countless relay races I've been apart of. I haven't been able to run many individual races, unfortunately, but I have qualified for state in the 4x4 twice and just this past year ran in the 4x8. Those races earned me an 11th, 10th and 9th place finish. Being a part of these two relay teams has allowed me to contribute to the team and experience tough competition, but had also opened my eyes to how hard it is to proritize your strengths. The morals that this sport has imbedded in me has immensely helped my drive for success and levelheadedness.
In this upcoming season, I hope to broaden my range of talent and participate specifically in the races that make up the heptathlon. With my background in gymnastics and wide range of races, I feel that if I spend extra time on each event that it will help me profile myself as a heptathlete.
