Personal Statement
I have always been that coachable, bubbly, friendly, positive, hardworking, team-spirited, and energetic Lebanese teenager who is always been passionate about Track and Field. All my life, I studied and lived in Jordan. In an Arab country such as Jordan, I have learned to respect and accept different types of people and races and interact with people from all nationalities, backgrounds, and cultures.
As a kid, I always saw myself as the Olympian gymnast who is going to rule the gymnastics Olympic. But as time passed by, I’d felt like I was not where I’m supposed to be. One of my dearest friends asked me to join one of the Track and Field afterschool activity and that was how my journey started. The coach was very impressed and really thought I had the potential to become something in Track and Field and break Jordanian, if not, international records. Track and Field then became my number 1 priority, causing my grades to decrease, and this was where I knew I needed to push myself and work harder (which is what I’m doing at the moment). Track and Field is my primary source of serotonin and happiness, it is what washes the darkness off of me and helps me stay focused.
It was one of my biggest accomplishments to be able to join one of the best Track and Field clubs in Jordan. I joined this club in early 2020, practiced intensively for 2 months, and went to a national competition in March where I placed first in triple jump and 4x100M relay and second in long jump. Sadly, we had to quarantine after, causing all gyms, clubs, and sports halls to close. The pandemic caused me a tough time being able to keep up with my sports, but I always exercised and ran around the house, and found any way to keep myself fit and in an athletic body. Everything reopened in June, and I went back and continued excessive training.
Even though I still have time to think of what I want for my future since I’m a sophomore, I’ve made up my mind from now. I’m eager and determined to work to be the best version of myself and be able to learn in the best and strongest universities regarding both sports and academics.
