Personal Statement
Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey and aspirations as an athlete and a person. Standing at the intersection of diverse cultures and backgrounds as a third-culture kid, I have had the privilege of experiencing the beauty of Australia, the warmth of Fiji, and the vibrant community of the Kingdom of Thailand. These experiences have molded me into a kind, friendly, adaptable and outgoing individual who cherishes relationships and thrives in collaborative settings.
I have always been drawn to leadership roles, both on and off the athletic field. As a natural leader, I am driven to inspire and motivate others to achieve their best. Whether it's guiding my teammates during a sporting competition (Track and Field, Basketball or Softball) or taking charge in my school's Student Environmental Committee, I find immense satisfaction in leading by example and helping those around me reach their potential.
Representing my country in the sport of shot put is a dream I hold dear. The idea of wearing one of my dual nation's colors and competing on the global stage is a driving force behind my dedication to the sport. I understand that this path will require relentless effort and continuous improvement, but I am committed to embracing the journey.
Ultimately, my love for shot put is deeply rooted in its unique blend of mental and physical aspects. It challenges me to find a delicate balance between mindfulness, precision, and raw power. The shot put circle is a place where I am free to explore the boundaries of my abilities and push past my limits
Beyond the shot put circle, my passion for theatre, choir and dance have allowed me to cultivate my creative side. The performing arts have not only been an outlet for self-expression but have also enhanced my ability to approach sports with a unique perspective. The arts have also presented an opportunity for me to explore my dual heritage and home cultures.
In the classroom I am diligent and hard-working and I enjoy subjects which offer me the change to engage in discussion and debate. I am a keen writer and am at home on stage.
Being an ardent environmentalist, I have channeled my love for the environment into active participation in my school's Student Environmental Committee since Grade 4! Using my writing skills, I contribute weekly newsletter articles to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices within our community. This commitment aligns with my belief in the power of collective action to address environmental challenges.
In conclusion, I am not just an athlete; I am a kind-hearted, friendly, and outgoing leader with a passion for the arts, a dedication to representing my country, a love for the environment, and a fervent enthusiasm for the sport of shot put. I am excited to bring these qualities to your University program and continue my journey as a student-athlete. Thank you for considering me.
