Personal Statement
My name is Danna Diaz Romero, I am writing this letter to explain my sincere interest to apply to your university. I am an 18 years old, high-performance athlete who was born and currently lives in Bogotá DC, Colombia.
I recently finished high school with academic and athletic honors and now I am looking for an opportunity to study and compete in a US university. From my childhood, I always dreamed about being a great athlete; I started running in my neighborhood, where I discovered my passion and my talent for the speed and endurance running. Then, I join my school team where I had the opportunity to develop my talent. I put hard work, dedication and effort to get better in my sport and all that brought me where I am now; in 2017 I won the national championships and also I had the opportunity to represent my country in the South American Youth Games. I had several competitions won last year, I became the national and state champion and made a few new personal bests. It is 2:17:67 official time for 800 meter outdoor at the South American Youth Games, it is possible to review this in my IAAF profile. For the 1500 meters outdoor my best is 4:50
I obtained my high school degree from La Merced IED in Bogota, Colombia with a GPA of 4.0.
