Personal Statement
My name is Céleste, and I am passionate about athletics, having engaged in seven sports, including gymnastics, taekwondo, and basketball. Inspired by the Olympics, I've dedicated the last eight years to athletics, focusing on improving both physically and mentally, though these have had a few twists and turns as I travelled a lot due to my dad’s work, so keeping up with training was challenging, as well as getting used to the very humid and hot weather in Dubai, training has become more intense, but it hasn’t stopped me of improving and achieving new personal bests. I think the most challenging were when I qualified for the regionals in the UK but unfortunately I couldn’t compete nor train for a whole year, despite this drawback, one of my biggest achievements in the UK was coming 14th as the fastest kids in England in my age category then. Whilst I was in the UAE, I qualified for the regionals and represented Abu Dhabi and won 4 gold medals in total.
My high school sports science studies, particularly in sports psychology, have greatly enhanced my understanding of athlete motivation and competitive behaviours. This insight has fuelled my desire to help other athletes conquer mental challenges, acknowledging the significant role psychology plays in sports. I also earned a coaching certificate during my BTEC Sport course, which honed my leadership and communication skills, boosting my confidence. These experiences have driven me to guide athletes in enhancing their mental health and overall performance, sharing my insights and support, especially during competitions. I aim to promote athletics by highlighting its transformative power and accessibility, regardless of background.
I've actively participated in guiding young students in athletics, delivering speeches on the importance of physical education, and organizing fitness sessions. My coaching extends to teaching sprinting techniques at my club and during a summer program in Europe. Recently, i taught a lesson about the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics in Dubai, emphasizing the diversity of sports disciplines.
