Personal Statement
17 year old NZ girl who runs 56.56 400m and 2.12 800 m and selected for NZ National U18 Team for 2022 Oceania Area Competition. National U18 4 x 400 m relay title (including setting a new Auckland region record).
Hi, my name is Lucy. I am from Auckland, New Zealand and have always had a passion for running and learning. It has been a dream of mine to study at an American University. I am an extremely hard worker with consistent results across all aspects of my life.
I began running seriously when I was 15 and have quit field hockey for the 2022/23 season so I can focus on it even more. My training is based around low mileage as my coach says this is right for my age.
My goal this season is to run below 2.10 in the 800 m and 55s in the 400m. Having been through COVID this season racing was limited so going forward I am excited about having more opportunities to get great PBs.
I enjoy leadership roles and I am Deputy Prefect for our School Services and Captain of our Cross Country Team and Distance Squad. I have also completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Award which consists of community service.
I am a team player who likes to have fun and enjoy life whilst also striving to be the best I can.
