Personal Statement
I achieved a sense of community while training and racing. We competed in the highest athletic league in Turkey with my team. We all supported each other, cheered each other up and gave our best. That race trip, I felt like I I always train by myself because my teammates either live in other cities or since I train after school, we don't come to the track at the same hours. Now, when I go on the track, I am the only middle distance runner at my age range. In the US, I see the team spirit and hard work they put together. I want to join a team to train with them and support them. My sister was also recruited and I aspire that kind of life as a student-athlete. I want to represent my college in track meets, improve my personal bests, keep my grades high and make good friends.
I value my academics and sport the same. My academics help me to analyse my surroundings and understand economics, movies and international news. Track and field thaught me not be afraid of struggle and always push my limits. For example, I improved my stress management owing to track races. Moreover, this skill hepls me to stay calm before my school exams too. I researched methods to deal with stress before races and gain confidence in my abilities, and now I apply these methods to my everyday life.
