Personal Statement
My name is Daphine Kemunto Okioma. I am an 18 years old girl from Kenya.
We are a family of six. My Oldest sister is in third year University pursuing a Business degree course. I and my twin sister finished High School in 2009. My youngest sister is in Primary grade.
My father is retired and my mother is doing some low key job in a government Ministry.
Financially my family is not able to pay for my University education. Accordingly I am seeking for a scholarship with University that is keen to admit sports talented students like myself.
I believe I have very good potential as a sports lady. What I have lacked in my previous years is a professionally qualified coach. Even without that handicap,I have done outstandingly well and have represented my school, Region and Country in regional and International tournaments.
I am 5ft 6 inches tall. I weigh 56 kilograms. I am an active person in my everyday life and I work hard at any task before me. I am gifted as an organizer and a leader in school and in my local community. I have all the time found myself picked as Captain and assistant captain or leader for various clubs or self help teams.
I went to school in a faith based (Catholic) school by name St. Theresa, located in Nairobi. The headmistress liked me for sports and the school was very active in sports competitions. Since I like Sports very much, I persuaded my parents to take me to the school.
My future career ambition is to pursue a University degree course in Commerce/Business Management. I hope to have opportunity to exploit my talents in sports through professional training and participation in Major college tournaments. Any college that likes good performing athletics students will not be disappointed for admitting. My aim will be to be one of the top athletes in the college and that I feel is within my grasp, given the opportunity.
