Personal Statement
Greetings Coaches,
My name is Lydia Clarke and I am a student athlete from The Bahamas. My passion for track and field has started from the early age of 4 years old when I ran my first race. Ever since then my love and competitiveness for the sport grew.
I am a senior at Queens College Highschool located in Nassau, Bahamas. The athletic department at my high school recognized my gifts as an athlete and has nurtured them throughout my years in school.
So much so, I have been representing my school at the B.A.I.S.S and High School Nationals Championships since the beginning of high school (Grade 7).
I look forward to further developing my athletic abilities and continuing my track career in college.
To which it is my goal to become a part of a dynamic college team where I can contribute to the team's success in track and field.
In college I want to major in medicine/health care. I believe the discipline and team spirit I have developed in track will benefit me greatly in my career choice.
At home, I am the Girls Team Captain of my track club DTSP Wolf Pack, which I have been a member of since 2013.
As the Girls Team Captain, I assist my teammates with their techniques during drills and warm ups, giving them encouragement and sharing my experiences with them so they can make wise choices.
Within track and field my disciplines are the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. The 100m is my personal favorite, however I have run numerous 400m in my track career .
Another event that I love to run is the 4x100m. This event is always such a great thrill for me to run because it is a combination of pumping adrenaline, the desire to support my teammates and just the overall enjoyment of running on a team.
Regardless of which race I am running I am very focused and prepare myself mentally every event, for the race of my life.
I look forward to becoming a part of a dynamic college team where I can contribute to the team's success in track and field.
