Personal Statement
My mother always tells of how I just got up at 10 months old and ran! Mom did the right thing and channeled my natural inclinations into athletics where I thrived. Turns out I am fast, strong and love to jump things - I love High Jump! and can also compete with the best in both Long Jump and Triple Jump.
Over the past 3 yearsI have proudly represented my state, Western Australia. It has been an amazing ooportunity to travel and compete against the best young Australian athletes. I was very proud to have been Athletics Captain for the Interschool Division 1 Carnival on October 21 2020. I also giving back to my school by volunteer coaching the High Jump squad for the younger interschool team athletes.
Even though the jumps are individual events, I have loved being part of a bigger squad of jumpers. I count them as friends as well as competitors. If we aren't competing at an event, we will show up and cheer each other, as well as be there to console and encourage when we haven't had such a good meet.
I am absolutely committed to training, to persevere through adversity and strive to always try to improve. This approach to my athletics and my academic success is the same - keep trying, persevere, and the results will come.
Keeping training throughout the COVID-19 restrictions we have in place here in Australia was immensely beneficial to my mental health and well being. Being adaptable and flexible I feel is an important skill in this new world we live in right now both with athletics and academics.
My favourite saying is: No such thing as losing, just winning and learning. I intend on a lifetime of learning interspersed with plenty of good wins along the way.
