Hi my name is Ilyssa Fuentes and I'm a track and field athlete from Perth, WA. It’s always been dream of mine to compete at an American college, and study abroad.
I started athletics when I was 9 years old, at my local little athletics club. As I developed my skills, I became more competitive, and got my first state medal when I was U11’s. I got selected for the U13 Little Athletics state team, and have consistently medalled at states as well as being selected for the WA state team every year from then. Best performances at nationals are 5th in triple jump and 11th in long jump in the U18 age group.
Through my athletic journey I’ve learnt many things; how to communicate with others, how to lead by example and how I can apply myself technically to get results. I have become a guiding, senior member in my training group and I would love an opportunity to utilise these skills in a college track environment.
Off the track, I also maintain a high standard in my academics. From Year 7-10, I was apart of the Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE), as well as the Elite Sports Performance program in Year 11.
I would love the opportunity to learn and grow as a college athlete in the US and I hope to chat soon.
