Personal Statement
~~I have been running with my local athletics club since I was 9 years old. Since I started I have always aimed to improve my performances which I have done by training hard under the direction of my coach and developing the correct attitude to competition.
In recent years I as a non US resident have become aware of the collegiate system and I have aspired to run at collegiate level ever since. Through contact with people I know that are currently competing at this level and research I have done I realise that being able to compete and study within the US collegiate system is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my life completely and give me the basis to progress to a much higher level of competition.
I train hard under the direction of my club coach 6 days a week and have done so for the last few years. I respond well to coaching instruction and I constantly strive to improve.
In school I study hard as I endeavour to achieve the best results I can in each subject I study. I volunteer as an athletics leader at my club where I assist coaches with the younger age groups once a week before my own training session begins.
I want to attend a university where I can be tested to my highest level in both the classroom and in competition. I would consider all options presented to me and would ultimately like to find a university which would best suit my academic ability and also offer me the highest level of competition possible. I would like to think that I can be a model student who makes my parents very proud.
