Personal Statement
About Me:
As you probably saw, my name is Lora Poposka. My background is Macedonian but I lived in Canada for 12 years and thus have both nationalities; but I moved to Europe again a few years ago. Additionally, from moving around a lot I speak English (which is my first language), French, Macedonian and Dutch.
Academic Interests:
I am a very hard working student doing the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, in grade 11 I had 39/42 points which I hope to achieve if not high on my final exams. My higher levels are: math, physics and economics and my standard levels: English, French and chemistry. At university I hope to study math and/or physics and hope that I can use my technical knowledge to help the climate crisis by reseaching and developing solutions.
Running Background:
I am very passionate about running although I admit I haven't been doing it for very long. I started running because I was a figure skater and made the junior national team of the Netherlands in grade 8 so I ran to stay fit. However because of my school schedule I had to stop skating and I started running at my local track club in 10th grade. In grade 10 I ran a 5:40 1500 and in grade 11 I brought it down to 5:17. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the chance to race it yet this year. In March I also placed 10th on the cross country nationals. Even though I'm only going into my third year of running I am very passionate and hope to accomplish very big goals in the future.
This is why I am looking for a chance to run at the collegiate level in the USA. I put myself on here in hope of scholarship opportunities as it is very costly to move across the world, but I think it would open a lot of doors for my future.
