Personal Statement
My name is Lara Rossouw and I am a student athlete from Cape Town in South Africa. I have been running at a competitive level for over 10 years and have consistently ranked top in my region, state and even country. I participate in cross country, road running, as well as 800m and 1500m track, with the 1500m being my preferred distance.
I am presently being coached by an Olympic track silver medalist, and her husband who held a number of world records. Their achievements have acted as an inspiration to me, and I dream of reaching the same level in my sport one day. I am an extremely hard worker in my sport with twice daily practice sessions and competing every weekend with cross country and road running events during winter and track events during summer.
Off the track I bring the same level of dedication and effort to my school studies, and I am ranked in the top three out of a class of 120 students in my high school which is the reighning top academic school in the whole of South Africa. My GPA has remained at 4.0 over my entire high-school career.
My dream of studying at a college in the US will achieve two of my life goals. I intend obtaining a world class education from top rated academic institution, while also allowing me to compete in my sport in a much larger audience and at a world class level.
