Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Jaylene Huynh. I live in Ontario, Canada, and I hope go to U of T for track/xc. I haven’t always been a runner, and I started out doing gymnastics for about 7-8 years. I also swim and play volleyball. I started running in grade 4 and my first ever track race was the 100m. Throughout the years, I noticed i stood out more in events like the 400, 800, and cross country. I only started taking running seriously in grade 6, mid covid because my teacher pushed me to be the best I could be. My collegiate goals and aspirations are to meet new people, make new friends, connect with high level coaches, and to most importantly, participate in the sport I love. What makes me different from other recruits is that I take academics as seriously as I do athletics. I’m always looking for ways to improve in both areas. While still being competitive, I cheer on my opponents and love being given advice from higher level athletes.
