- 2020 Highlights #2
Personal Statement
My name is Zofia Landowska and I have been doing track and field for over 2 years now. My journey with track began at an athletics meeting in Warsaw in 2013 when Artur Noga (a Polish hurdler) broke the Polish record for 110 m hurdles. My Dad, himself a staunch supporter, was the one who took me to this competition, which later ignited a passion that became a massive part of my life.
Track has provided me with a significant boost to my self-confidence, especially when I discovered that even subzero temperatures in our sports hall cannot discourage me from pursuing my goal. Hurdle practice in particular has taught me that hard and tireless work with the right attitude and faith in your own abilities can bring incredible results. Less than a year ago I was genuinely afraid of hurdles and now I am at the forefront of my age group in Poland. I believe I can contribute great commitment and geekery to the team as well as the college. I know I am a solid student who is fully aware of the fact that practice must not affect school performance. Furthermore, I have the ability to actively listen and quickly acquire new skills. Thanks to this capacity I manage to cope with the heavy workload at school as well as combining it successfully with the daily, time-consuming track training. Attending a university in the US will allow me to gain valuable experience and expand my perception of the world. Overall, I am positive I am ready to pursue even a very demanding sports and academic career.
