My name is Leah Tietjens and I am a dedicated track and field athlete. I am a three time varsity letter winner for my 4A team. Track has been a passion of mine for many years so to be able to continue my athletic career into college is very important to me.
Unlike many of the other athletes in my division I did not participate in track clubs at a young age. Despite having less experience I was able to go into high school and compete at a high level. My ability to learn new skills and technique quickly has allowed me to form the habits of track athletes who started at a younger age. I believe my ability to adapt will help me be a great college athlete.
When it comes to choosing what school I would like to go to, I am staying pretty open. I have mainly been looking at school in the midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, etc.) but I am very open to going anywhere, though I am hoping to leave Iowa. I am open minded about the size of the school, but I would prefer a larger school. I am mainly looking for a place I can receive a good education and run track. My top two choices for a major as of right now are Biology and Pre Medicine. I am also looking for a school that offers an ROTC program as I am hoping to go into the military after college.
My main athletic goal is to continue playing the sport I love at a higher competitive level. Another goal of mine is to make an impact a the team while allowing the team to make me a better person. I have always loved being on a team with great people who push each other to be better not just on the track but also in life.
