My name is Emily Brackob and I am a hard working cross country and track & field competitor from Taylorsville, Kentucky. I have a passion for running and my goal is to compete at the college level. I have been competing in 5K cross country, 400 M and long jump in both indoor and outdoor track. I started running in elementary school, competing in cross country meets around Kentucky. In middle school, I tried my hand at basketball, but returned to track in the eighth grade. Due to social limitations related to my high functioning autism, I tended to struggle in team sports. Currently, I am a senior at Spencer County High School and run on the Varsity team. This is the only high school in our rural county. Our team is very small and our coach is a volunteer nevertheless our girls team is ranked 3rd in our region and 18th in the state this year. I am proud to say that even with a limited amount of coaching and guidance, I have chosen to be the most dedicated runner I can possibly be. I am early to practice and the last to leave. I give my all and hold nothing back. I know I have room to improve and I strive to do just that. It is my hope with a college coach to guide me, I can excel as a collegiate athlete.
My faith and my family are very important to me and my development as a student athlete. For that reason, I would like to run for small to mid-sized college in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, or Tennessee, within a few hours’ drive from my home just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. I am also interested in Christian colleges. For my major, I am leaning towards studying criminal justice and English, eventually going into law enforcement. But mostly, I am keeping my options open as to my selected field of study. My ideal school would offer an intimate classroom setting where I can successfully balance classwork and work on the track. As the second of three kids in my family and the first to go to college, financial assistance is an area that will be very important in my college selection
When I am not at the track or school, I work part time at our local Dairy Queen. I also enjoy swimming, boating, listening to music, catching up with my grandparents and helping with my younger brother in my spare time.
