Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Julia Szewc and I am a senior in high school at Hermon High. I have always been competitive and I love playing and watching sports. I found my passion for running in middle school, when I joined the cross country team in sixth grade. I have competed every school year since then as a cross country runner and also participated in track for a few years. I also ran a half marathon in Portland, Maine and placed second in my age group this past summer. When I am not in season, I focus on running and exercising a lot. I love to be outdoors and staying active. Additionally, I do competitive cheering every winter.

I consider myself to be a hard worker and I always do my best to accomplish any task at hand to better myself and others, wether it is academic, work related, or sports. My junior year of high school I qualified for the State Meet, received the Varsity Cross Country Valley Conference second team award, and have been voted team captain of the cross country team for my senior year of cross country.

I would love any opportunity I could get to participate on a college cross country team, when I attend college in the fall of 2023.
